Here is a list of swing trading stocks currently forming trade setups. It is from this list that I decide which stocks to buy based on recent performance, quality of the trade setup, risk/reward, and profit potential.
This swing trading watchlist was updated on Sept. 24, 2024.
As you can see this page is not being updated currently. Please see: Best Swing Trading Stocks List which is being updated regularly. Non-Indexed.
The watchlist is broken into sections based on strategy:
- Earnings Plays (riding momentum after a big jump on earnings)
- TATR Strategy (High momentum trend trades using an ATR-based entry and exit)
- Chart patterns (contractions, rounded bottoms)
I favor long trades when market conditions are favorable. When market conditions are unfavorable, I either avoid stock swing trading or may focus on short trades.
The current state of the market: Health indicators are ok and I am deploying capital cautiously on long swing trades.
My swing trading is based on: Overall market conditions (discussed above) –> strong/weak individual stocks for longs or shorts –> patterns –> trade triggers. This swing trading watchlist focuses on finding stocks that could form a trade setup I trade.
Swing Trading Earnings Watchlist
Here is a list of stocks to watch for Earnings Plays in. A video on the specific strategy I am using to trade these stocks has been added to the Complete Method Stock Swing Trading Course.
This is a list of stocks that have recently advanced strongly higher following earnings.
Here is the current Earnings Play list as a .txt document so you can upload the list to your charting platform and monitor the list for setups.
Sorry, not updating this article currently.
The Earnings Drift Strategy article also provides some potential ways to trade these stocks.
TATR Strategy Watchlist – Longs (Strong)
A small list of stocks, about 20 to 30, is compiled every two weeks on the Best Swing Trading Stocks List. <—-This list is being updated regularly. Those are then used to find TATR strategy trades.
If a stock is above the ATR Stops line, then a long trade is already underway. If the stock price is below the ATR Stops line, then there is a possible long trade when it moves above.
These stocks can move quickly, so I recommend flipping through the whole list each week yourself to monitor for current trades. That said, as of this writing, here are the stocks from the list currently below the ATR Stops which could trigger trades if they move above it.
Due to strong performance recently, most stocks on the list are above the ATR Stops.
The TATR strategy can also be used with other stocks exhibiting strong upward momentum in recent months.
TATR Strategy Watchlist – Shorts (Weak)
If a stock is below the ATR Stops line, then a short trade is currently underway. If the stock price is above the ATR Stops line, there is a possible short trade when it moves below.
These stocks can move quickly, so I recommend flipping through the whole list each week yourself to monitor for current trades. That said, as of this writing, here are the stocks from the list currently above the ATR Stops which could trigger short trades if they move below it.
Current Swing Trading Watchlist – Contractions, Cup & Handles, Rounded Bottoms
Sorry, I am not currently updating this section.
Below is my watchlist for Contraction, Cup & Handle, and Rounded Bottom patterns.
This scan looks for stocks stronger than the S&P 500 and forming the patterns mentioned above.
These patterns are forming. Some may not fully form or some may not trigger. This is not a “buy list” it is just stocks I am monitoring for potential trade setups.
Current US Swing Trading Watchlist
The image shows the scan criteria used to generate a list of 166 stocks. That list was widdled down to the stocks shown here that are forming patterns.
There are a lot of RBs out there right now. Many look a little extended because of recent sharp rallies. I have included a sampling in the lists below for both US and Canadian exchanges.

Current Canadain Swing Trading Watchlist
The image shows the scan criteria used to generate a list of 46 stocks. That list was widdled down to the stocks shown here that are forming patterns.

The Complete Method Stock Swing Trading Course covers my entire method of swing trading stocks, including where I enter, and place stop losses on all the patterns (RBs, contractions, and more). Now is a great time to review the material and prepare for the opportunities that are unfolding.
